OCTOBER 15, 2019
It is with great pleasure that the Victorian Speedcar Drivers Association together with Avalon Raceway announce Dutton Garage as the naming rights sponsor of the Track Championship*.
The Dutton name has a proud history with Speedcar racing in Victoria and stems back to the famous Dutton rear engine midget. A car inspired by a Lotus GP and built by Bill Dutton, it was eventually driven by Frank Nankiville, Bob Clarke and Wayne Pearce.
Dutton Garage was founded in 1911 by Bill’s father Albert and today the iconic Dutton brand has an automotive legacy of over 100 years. Dutton began as a bespoke body and boat builder creating coachwork for vehicles such as Rolls Royce, Hispano and Isotta. Bill ventured into the world of speedway for a period of time and even found himself placing 2nd at the 1956-1957 Victorian Speedcar Championship at the famous Tracey’s Speedway.
Today Dutton Garage is one of the world’s premium retailers of classic, collectable, exotic and rare cars with their iconic showroom based in Melbourne. With a global buying power and an extensive international network, they are able to source, purchase and sell vehicles for customers worldwide. Their expert staff provide fully tailored services for customers looking to purchase their next collectable, classic or exotic car.
Teaming up with the VSDA and Avalon Raceway will see the Dutton Garage Avalon Track Championship prize purse valued at $2000 to win.
Avalon Raceway have always supported Speedcar racing in Victoria, even in their most desolate times, and the season championship is a much sought after title. This season, with the backing of Dutton Garage, will again see each and every event hotly contested.
